Vermillion Parks And Recreation
The city owns and maintains 9 parks, totaling just over 91 acres. The parks are throughout the city and offer a wide range of facilities to meet Vermillion's leisure needs. Enjoy a relaxing picnic in the shade of a huge tree or on one of many picnic tables, take in a game of Disc Golf or just find a place to relax. Picnic shelters and grills are available for public use and can host family reunions, parties or other events. Children can enjoy the afternoon playing at a number of playgrounds. Lion’s Park is located between Princeton and High Streets south of Cherry Street is comprised of 17.32 acres. The park provides playground areas, lighted softball fields, picnic shelter, restrooms, camping facilities with electricity and sewage dump site, and the armory/community center which includes air conditioned classrooms, kitchen, tiled gym floor with basketball courts, volleyball court, and restrooms with showers.
Camping in Lion's Park
First three days and two nights are FREE, after that it is $5 per day, however permission is needed from the Parks Department at 605-677-7082.
Five electrical sites are available for campers and tents. Water available, along with a dump station.
First come, first serve for all sites. Tenting Spots are available.
Barstow Park is located at Carr and Cherry Streets is comprised of 19.39 acres. The park provides soccer fields, football fields, lighted tennis courts, lighted softball fields, picnic shelters, playground areas, skate park, ice rink and warming house, restrooms, and fitness course.
Cotton Park is located on the southern end of Dakota Street next to the Vermillion River is comprised of 30 acres. The park provides playground areas, a soccer field, picnic shelter, restrooms, scenic bridge and hiking trails, a bike path along the river, and natural grasslands.
Prentis Park is located between Main and Clark Streets on Plum Street is comprised of 19.4 acres. The park has a newly renovated swimming pool with a 110’ water slide, lighted basketball courts, lighted horseshoes, lighted shuffleboard, picnic shelters, restrooms, playground areas, lighted volleyball courts, lighted baseball field, practice softball field, and a band shell.
Bliss Park is located by the roundabout on the corner of Rockwell St and Joplin St is comprised of .75 acres. The park provides a playground areas and a parent viewing area of the playground system.
JC Park is located on the corner of Broadway St and Twelfth St is comprised of .45 acres. The park provides playground areas, basketball court, soccer field, and a sand box.
Ty Park is located in the middle of Brandon St and North of Burbank Rd is comprised of .85 acres. The park provides a playground areas and a soccer field.
Bluffs Park is located on the corner of Augusta St and Oakmont St is comprised of .95 acres. The park provides playground areas, basketball court, and tetherball court.
Rotary Park is located on the corner of Cottage St and Rice St is comprised of .90 acres. The park provides playground areas and a basketball court.
